Biripi/ Worimi

Laura Bowen is a Biripi/ Worimi woman who was born and raised on the Gumbainggirr camping grounds in the Bellingen Valley on the Mid North Coast of N.S.W Australia. She has a love of art, writing and the natural world.

Her artworks are all inspired by the world around her often imitating the seasonal colours, cycles and emotional connection to the natural world. The paintings usually depicting unique Australian flora, fauna and natural landmarks imagery surrounded with dots created with feathers found on her walks through country.

The use of the feathers instils in each piece of art the energy of the element of air as well as encapsulation the feelings and unique personality traits of the birds that the various feathers come from. As well as her original paintings, she creates a variety of gifts cards, fabrics and digital design work.

Laura creates original artworks, which feature in her published works, that share her culture and connection to country with others to educate and deepen their connection to the unique Australian landscape and its inhabitants.
