Artist Membership

Artist Members are practising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander visual artists who wish to add their voice to the call for fair and ethical trade for themselves and other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists.

  • Artist Members are not signatories to the Code but as Members, must abide by the rules set out in IartC’s constitution. 
  • Artist Membership is FREE.


The Indigenous Art Code Artist Membership process is currently under review. We are not currently accepting Artist Member applications.

Dealer Membership

(including art centres and galleries) 

Dealer Members are organisations and individuals who are engaged in commercial trade with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, both trading in original artwork and licensing artwork. 

  • Dealers Members are signatories to the Code and must adhere to the Code’s requirements in conducting business. They must also respect the rules set out in the company constitution. 
  • Businesses may be Indigenous or non-Indigenous owned. 
  • Membership is renewed annually with an annual fee of $220 +gst.

Supporter Membership

(Including peak bodies and organisations or individuals who are not dealers)

Code Supporters are people and organisations who support the objects of the Code and its principles but are not involved in commercial trade with Indigenous artists.

  • Supporter Members are not bound by the Code but must support and promote the ethical principles of the Code and abide by the rules set out in the IartC’s constitution.
  • Membership is renewed annually with an annual fee of $220 +gst.
