My name is Vegas I am an Aboriginal man from my mothers side of the family. I was taught as a young boy to paint and the connection of art and story telling by my Uncle Garry and my Mum.
After painting for many years it was when my uncle developed cancer that I once again was drawn back to what I was born to do and to show him the respect an honour I felt from what he had shared with me. My soul mission was to deliver a piece that would show him what our connection as family and country meant to me. The piece I finished was given to him in hospital and he loved it but sadly passed away the next morning .
Since that night I have felt a deep connection with painting and being able to share other people’s version of Australia in what I do. I have completed hundreds of commission works and they hold a special place for me.
