ACHAA - Aboriginal Culture, Heritage & Arts Association
ACHAA is the peak body for Aboriginal cultural spaces such as cultural centres, knowledge centres, language centres, galleries, museums and keeping places across New South Wales.
The Aboriginal Culture, Heritage & Arts Association of NSW (ACHAA) supports these community cultural facilities so they can be resilient and locally sustainable.
ACHAA supports its members’ culture, heritage, language and arts activities as essential to the healing and empowerment of Aboriginal communities.
We acknowledge the past, live in the present and embody country, knowledge and identity as enduring values towards this healing and empowerment.
ACHAA networks its members, provides professional development opportunities for their staff and volunteers and engages with government and non-government organisations for support and promotes the value of NSW Aboriginal culture, heritage, arts and artists.
ACHAA is an incorporated not-for-profit association, registered for goods and services tax. All its 21 core voting members are Aboriginal community-owned not-for-profit organisations.
ACHAA also has another 29 Associate Members (non-voting). These supporters are generally non-Aboriginal owned cultural venues and include major Sydney cultural institutions and regional galleries as well as a couple of aspirational Aboriginal organisations actively developing their own community cultural centre.
