Nyinkka Nyunyu Art & Cultural Centre
Nyinkka Nyunyu Art & Cultural Centre is a vibrant social enterprise of Julalikari Council Aboriginal Corporation, established by Warumungu Elders to protect the sacred site of the Nyinkka—the spiky-tailed goanna—and keep Warumungu culture strong for future generations. Serving as a hub for the many Aboriginal language groups of the Barkly region, the Centre provides meaningful employment for local Aboriginal people while opening the eyes of visitors to the deep histories, cultural knowledge, and creative practices of the region.
Guided by the core values of Respect, Integrity, Accountability, and Unity, Nyinkka Nyunyu is dedicated to cultural leadership and ethical practice. Its work spans cultural preservation through the Warumungu Cultural Museum, archival projects, and education programs; contemporary art production and sales driven by the Tennant Creek Brio and emerging artists; and tourism-led engagement through tours, workshops, and community activities that connect people to Country and culture.
A living cultural authority, Nyinkka Nyunyu stands as a place where culture is practiced, shared, and celebrated, ensuring that Warumungu voices remain strong—on Country and for generations to come.
