Wambaya/Warumungu

I am proud Wambaya/ Warumungu woman with family ties Yuggera Country. I grew up between Alice Springs (Mparntwe) and on Peramangk Country in the Adelaide Hills. As a young girl I remember traveling around country and visiting remote communities and learning the deep connections we have within culture and the significance of how Aboriginal culture is interconnected through land, waterways, art , music and dance.

These teachings led myself and my 2 older brothers on a journey and In 2009 we ventured into opening Aboriginal Visual Art Gallery.

This was a time in which picking up a paint brush to express my story and the journey of my life through my culture began. In sharing my stories through Aboriginal art in a contemporary way.

My Artwork is influenced by travelling on country with my family which is depicted in my artworks through Acrylic paints. I predominantly use lines, dots and symbols to express my stories this is expressed through the different colours pallets used to tell the deep connection to country. The sense in knowing that no matter where I travel I hold connectedness to country, our elders and our ancestors is truely a honour.
