Wiradjuri
When I pick up the brush, I’m not just making a picture. I’m walking the tracks my old people laid down long before I breathed my first breath. For us on Wiradjuri Country, painting is our heartbeat; it’s how we keep the Yindyamarra—that deep respect and slowness—alive in a world that’s always rushing.
I didn't choose this path because it’s easy. This work carries the weight of our stories, our sacred sites, and the spirits of our ancestors. It’s a responsibility I was born into. Every dot and line is a conversation with the land, a way to map our survival and our belonging.
The world might try to pull us away from who we are, but when we paint, we hold our ground. We are showing the young ones that our culture isn’t a thing of the past—it’s a living, breathing strength. As long as we share our Dreaming through these colours, we are never truly lost.
