I have always known who I was, and where I come from, but growing up was a challenging time for our family. With multiple members of our family stolen and displaced - having a true understanding of our history and culture did not come easy.
I had always felt like something was missing from my life and that was deep knowledge of who we are. I worked hard for years asking questions & learning as much as I could from my Elders and community. An Aunty of mine painted some pots and gifted them to me. This inspired me to start practicing art, and allowed me to find a way to continue learning and strengthen my connection to my ancestors. Now with every piece I create, I feel my ancestors guiding me and surrounding me, and this is truly immeasurable.
I am blessed to have an incredible family, who provide unwavering support and guidance of my stories and art - This fuels my passion and allows me to be able to pass knowledge and practice down to the next generation and keep culture alive.
